King of the Night - Sierra Tequila

There is one thing that all Destilería Sierra tequilas have in common, and that is the traditional care with which they are handled throughout the entire production process. With its characteristic bottle shape including the established Sombrero on top, few Tequila enthusiasts in Malta & Gozo do not recognise the brand!

Utilising jimadores with years of experience, thes care for the agaves with their hands and hearts from the time they are planted to when they are harvested, which can be up to twelve years, can only be called dedication. They work the Sierra fields without the help of machines, which allows the plants to benefit from their natural environment in peace.

The jimador waits for the moment when the inner leaves of the agave are longer than the outer ones. That is the ideal time to harvest. The agaves are harvested individually by hand by the jimadores using a coa, which is a sharp harvesting knife. The heart of the agave is called the piña (or “pineapple”).

Destilería Sierra manufactures seven different kinds of tequila as well as a liqueur with tequila in order to satisfy different preferences, tastes, and requirements. Silver , Reposado , Antiguo Blanco and Antiguo Extra Anejo as well as Milenario Blanco , Milenario Reposado and Milenario Extra Anejo.

Sierra Tequila Silver and Sierra Tequila Reposado are probably the best-known and most popular tequilas in the Sierra range. Wherever you spend your evenings, you are sure to see the red and gold hat – and that’s a good thing.

Sierra Tequila Silver is a mature, clear tequila. Its full, fruity, fresh aroma dominated by a subtle chili note reflects the Tequilana Weber Azul Agave and also contains slight hints of green apple and young pineapple. Nuances of pepper give Sierra Tequila Silver that certain something, making it a feisty tequila.

Sierra Tequila Reposado is traditionally distilled twice in copper pot stills. It matures for nine months in toasted oak barrels, which gives it its shimmering golden color. Reposado is the favorite variety of tequila among Mexicans. The fresh, irresistible fruitiness of Sierra Tequila Reposado carries delicate notes of vanilla, caramel, and herbs. A recipient of numerous international awards, Sierra Tequila Reposado’s diversity of aromas makes it especially complex.
